Hip Hop Hangover

So like I told you on my last post, we have a Unity Blog Hop every week over on the Unity thread on splitcoaststampers. On Friday's we have Hip Hop Hangover. We just chat when we can and post our Thursday creations on our blogs. :) Yesterday we got two challenges from Jeanne. One was to make a card with Unity stamps and use stripes, and the other was to use Unity stamps and use the color pink. These are the 2 cards that I came up with. :)

On the first one with the plaid I CASE'd one of Jimmi's (jpmayo) cards, and came up with this.

On the second card (the pink one) I just thought of candy, and came up with this card. I added the buttons for a little something. I love the colors of this card. Sorry this is a quick post, I have a lot to get done today! :) Have a great one, and thanks for stopping by!

Unity, Unity, Unity!!

Well I was browsing everyones blogs, and decided I should probably spend sometime on my own blog! I made a card that I want to share with you. It is made using Unity stamps- the snowflakes are from Unity's-snowflake serenade single, and the "wish" sentiment is from the growing in unity set. I stamped the snowflakes on white cardstock with SU!'s brocade blue, and then cut them out. I cut the smaller one out into a small square, and the larger one I just cut out along the lines. I then took my glue pen and added the glitter. I took the smaller one and layered it onto a light blue cardstock and then paper pierced around it. I then paper pierced a larger square connected to the smaller one. For the larger snowflake I added a blue eyelet and then added pop up dots. Then I stamped the "wish" sentiment. I love the simplicity of the card.

The next thing I want to share with you is a stocking I made with a template I got off the Papertry Ink website. The fabulous Lauren Meader came up with this template, and then I stamped it and made it into my own. A big thanks to Lauren because I LOVE this template. You can try it yourself too if you go to papertryink.com and then click on tools, and then click on templates. The best part about this particular template is that it is FREE! That's right. It is free. Lauren and the Papertry Ink team wants everyone to be able to try Lauren's template so yo can know if you like them. She has other awesome ones too that cost only 5 dollars!!

So all I had to do was print the template onto my cardstock, and then stamp away! I cut out my green cardstock, and then stamped it with the "dream tree" from the growing in unity set by Unity stamps. It is stamped in versamark. I didn't not ink the trunk of the tree because I just wanted it to be a swirl affect. Then I cut out my toe and heel. I took a brown marker and added faux stitching. I then took my brown cardstock and cut it down to the size Lauren gave us on the template for the top of the stocking. I stamped "silent night" from bitty Christmas tags by Unity stamps onto it with white ink. I then used the "dream tree" again with white ink, and then added paper piercing. I took two little green buttons by SU! that I was given, and I added some thread. I folded up the white box and then attatched the two green stockings and tada!!! All done! :) Super easy!
Now I know you will hear me talking about Unity stamps a lot in the future. The are an AMAZING new company owned by Angela and Christian Magnuson. I found this company on splitcoaststampers.com Unity has they're own forum, where I spend way too much time! lol. Unity stamps are so fun and exciting. I love when I know that my stamps are on the way, and I hunt down my mailman until I get them. They have so many different type's of stamps! From holiday stamps, to birthdays, to scriptures from the Bible, to everything you can imagine! They're stamps come unmounted and some mounted on they're unique wood blocks. These wood blocks slide into handles specially made by Unity stamps. They come in 4 different sizes -a, b, c, and d. They can also be used as acrylic blocks. Talk about 2 for the price of 1!!!
Every Thursday we have what is called "Hip Hop Thursday" on the Unity forum over at splitcoaststampers.com. It all starts with a blog hop starting on the Unity blog: unitystampco.blogspot.com So you follow the link from there and it leads you to a Design Team member, which then leads you to another DT member, and so on. At the end of the blog hop, one of the DT members has blog candy. Leave them a comment and you will be entered in a chance to win unity stamps. There are challenges, lots of chit, and big giveaways at Hip Hop Thursdays! Angela and her DT give away $300 worth of prizes EVERY Thursday!!! She is so generous and all of us customers appreciate her so much. She has chosen an INCREDIBLE Design Team. All of the ladies are so kind and talented. I am so happy that I have "met" each and every single one of them. So if you get a chance, come on over on Thursday and hang out with us. It starts at 10:00 am central time and goes until midnight pacific time usually! You will get to meet some awesome ladies that are Unity customers. I have become great friends with many of them. Each one is unique and so wonderful. Everyone on the Unity forum is so beautiful! :) I love them all to pieces! So anyways, go check out http://unitystampco.com !!!!!!! You will not regret it, even if you go broke ;) Thanks for stopping by today!!!

Hey There Cupcake!

So I got some awesome new Unity Stamps in the mail and wanted to use them! I love the "Cupcakes A'La Yummy" set so I knew I wanted to ink it up right away so I decided to use it on the customer challenge this week on the Unity forum at Splitcoaststampers. This weeks challenge was to create a card using the sketch we were given and as you can see-------->

this is what I came up with!

I realized after starting this blog that I probably won't be able to update it as much as I like, but I will do it as much as I can. I didn't realize how much the things that I am going through are taking a toll on me. But, I am just going to take it day by day and try not to worry so much! :) So thanks for visiting today, I really appreciate it!

Ready, Set, Go!!

Alright, so here is my go at a blog! If anyone looks at this, well thank you! I really appreciate it! I am Kristen Dyer, and I currently live in North Carolina, though I just moved here a couple months ago from Maine where I lived my whole life. I started stamping a couple months ago and have fallen in love. I love being able to put my artistic side to use! I am a mother to a wonderful 3 year old daughter Raine. She is my world! I have an incredible family that I love with all my heart. I am a stay at home mom at the time being and I hope to go to be a medical assistant in the spring. I am starting this blog so that hopefully one day I will be an inspiration to someone like so many have been to me. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask!

For today I am posting a card that I made for a couple challenges from Splitcoaststampers and from Unity Stamps. The first challenge is the sketch challenge from last week ( sc194). The second challenge is the color challenge (cc185) to use a light blue, old olive, and very vanilla. I do not own Stampin Up paper, so I just use what I have that is close. The third challenge is from the Unity Forum on Splitcoaststampers and it was to do paper piecing! I think the one problem I will encounter with this blog is the fact that a lot of the stuff that I own was given to me by very generous women, so I therefore cannot tell you what products it is that I use on my blog. I will do the best that I can and give you as much information as possible! For example, on this card, all the designer paper is from My Minds Eye. The "Wish" sentiment comes from the Growing In Unity set by Unity Stamps. The flower and stem stamps are from Stampin Up!'s "Love without end" set. And that is about as much as I know unfortunately. So anyways, thanks for looking! I really appreciate it!!!!
